A Major Funding Boost for Regulatory Tech:
Regulatory technology startup Zango AI has successfully raised $4.8 million in a seed funding round, led by Nexus Venture Partners. The round also saw participation from several notable angel investors, including Sahil Barua (co-founder, Delhivery), Vidit Aatrey and Sanjeev Barnwal (co-founders, Meesho), Rohit MA (Cloudnine), and Kunal Shah (CRED), among others.
This funding marks a significant milestone for the Bengaluru-based startup as it looks to redefine how businesses handle compliance in India, especially in sectors like fintech, lending, insurance, and manufacturing.
What Zango AI Does:
Founded by Anubhav Jain and Shivam Baghel, Zango AI is building a powerful AI-first compliance operating system. In simple terms, the startup helps companies keep track of and stay updated with India’s complex and ever-evolving regulatory environment.
Zango AI uses advanced machine learning and natural language processing (NLP) to scan, interpret, and classify regulatory documents from multiple sources. It then converts this information into easy-to-understand, actionable tasks for legal and compliance teams-removing the need for manual tracking and reducing risks of non-compliance.
Tackling India’s Complex Compliance Landscape:
India has one of the most dynamic and fragmented regulatory systems in the world, with laws frequently changing across sectors and states. Many startups and traditional businesses struggle to keep up, often depending on outdated manual processes or expensive legal consultancies.
Zango AI’s solution aims to automate and centralise this entire workflow. By mapping regulations to specific company functions and systems, it enables businesses to react to regulatory changes faster and stay compliant without operational disruption.
Backed by Top Investors and Founders:
Nexus Venture Partners, known for backing high-growth Indian startups, has expressed strong belief in Zango AI’s mission. Their team noted the increasing demand for intelligent compliance infrastructure as digital regulations grow more complex, especially in financial services.
The involvement of seasoned founders and startup leaders-like those from Meesho, Delhivery, CRED, and Cloudnine-adds strategic value beyond capital. Their experience in scaling companies in regulated environments gives Zango a solid support system as it expands.
Future Plans and Vision:
Zango AI plans to use the freshly raised capital to scale its engineering and product teams, enhance its AI capabilities, and expand its customer base across industries. The startup is already working with several fintech and lending firms and aims to broaden its presence in insurance, healthcare, manufacturing, and infrastructure sectors.
According to co-founder Anubhav Jain, the company’s long-term goal is to become “the regulatory nervous system for every enterprise” in India and beyond.
